JALAN Civic Lab's Executive Director Selected as a 2026 Global Fellow in Courage
Bangkok
We are delighted to announce that Matt Yutthaworakool, Co-Founder and Executive Director of JALAN Civic Lab, has been selected as a member of the 2026 Global Fellows in Courage (GFiC), a prestigious global fellowship that supports emerging leaders advancing human rights, gender equity, and courageous social change.
The Global Fellows in Courage is a six-month virtual accelerator that equips emerging social entrepreneurs with the knowledge, mentorship, networks, and resources needed to strengthen their leadership and scale their social impact.
The 2026 fellowship brings together 45 Fellows from around the world, who are organised into three themes: Health, Wellness & Environment; Economic Empowerment; and Civic Engagement & Advocacy.
Matt has been selected as one of 15 Fellows in the Civic Engagement & Advocacy cohort, recognizing his work in advancing civic participation, democratic resilience, gender justice, and inclusive education through JALAN Civic Lab.
"This fellowship is a recognition of the work that JALAN Civic Lab has been building alongside our partners and communities. It is an opportunity to learn from inspiring leaders across the globe while bringing new ideas, partnerships, and perspectives back to Southeast Asia." — Matt Yutthaworakool, JALAN Civic Lab
The fellowship runs from July to December 2026, comprising approximately 36 hours of structured learning and engagement. Throughout the six-month program, Fellows participate in leadership workshops, cohort-based learning sessions, executive coaching, and networking opportunities with distinguished practitioners and fellow changemakers from around the world. The curriculum covers leadership, systems change, advocacy, fundraising, strategic partnerships, communications, and impact measurement.
The selection process for the 2026 cohort was highly competitive. According to the Global Fellows in Courage program, the fellowship received 1,033 applications from individuals representing more than 100 countries, with over 26,000 website visits during the recruitment cycle. Applicants came from every region of the world, making the 45-member cohort a truly global community of emerging leaders.
At JALAN Civic Lab, we believe that meaningful social change is built through collaboration, innovation, and courageous leadership. Matt's participation in the Global Fellows in Courage program will further strengthen our mission of fostering civic engagement, democratic participation, social innovation, and inclusive development in Thailand and across Southeast Asia.
We extend our congratulations to all members of the 2026 Global Fellows in Courage cohort and look forward to collaborating with this inspiring global network of changemakers.
