JALAN Civic Lab Collaborates with Mindanao State University for BEED VISTA 2025 Global Classroom Lab

JALAN Civic Lab is proud to collaborate with the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) Department of Mindanao State University – General Santos City for the launch of the BEED Virtual International Summer Teacher Academy (VISTA) 2025 through the Global Classroom Lab: Social Impact Innovation and Mentorship Programme.

The programme brings together educators, researchers, and social impact practitioners from across Southeast Asia to create an engaging virtual learning platform for future educators. Through a series of interactive sessions, mentorship opportunities, and project-based learning activities, the initiative aims to strengthen students’ understanding of social innovation, community engagement, and sustainable impact.

Under the theme “Learn globally. Think innovatively. Lead meaningfully.”, the Global Classroom Lab reflects JALAN Civic Lab’s commitment to regional collaboration, youth empowerment, and transformative education.

About the Global Classroom Lab

The programme is designed for BEED students of Mindanao State University – General Santos City and focuses on equipping participants with practical knowledge and tools for designing meaningful social impact initiatives. Across June and July 2025, participants will engage in sessions covering:

  • Community needs assessment

  • Social impact project design

  • Project planning and impact development

  • Community engagement and communication

  • Monitoring and evaluation

  • Student project proposal pitching

The initiative also promotes cross-border learning and collaboration by connecting students with resource speakers from Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Programme Sessions

Session 1 — Understanding Community Needs

This session introduces students to the foundations of community needs assessment and participatory approaches in social impact work. Participants will explore how to identify local challenges, understand community contexts, and analyse assets and needs in designing meaningful interventions.


Session 2 — Designing a Meaningful Project

This session highlights how to transform social issues into actionable project ideas by developing goals, objectives, strategies, and stakeholder engagement plans that respond to real community needs.

Session 3 — Project Planning and Impact

The session focuses on project planning frameworks, sustainability, and impact development. Participants will explore how to design projects with measurable and long-term social outcomes.

Session 5 — Management, Monitoring, and Evaluation

Participants will learn the fundamentals of project management, monitoring, and evaluation (M&E), including how to assess progress, measure outcomes, and improve project effectiveness.

Session 4 — Community Engagement and Communication

Independent Consultant in Corporate Sustainability

This session highlights the importance of effective communication, stakeholder coordination, and inclusive community engagement in social impact initiatives.

Student Project Proposal Pitching

13 July 2025 | 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM (GMT+8)

The programme concludes with a student project proposal pitching session where participants present their ideas and receive feedback from facilitators and mentors.
