JALAN Civic Lab’s Executive Director Selected as FACTS Asia Emerging Leaders Fellow 2025–2026

JALAN Civic Lab proudly congratulates Matt Yutthaworakool, Co-Founder and Executive Director, on his selection as a 2025–2026 FACTS Asia Emerging Leaders Fellow. The fellowship recognises young policy innovators and researchers across Southeast Asia who are driving evidence-based dialogue on regional issues in the Indo-Pacific.
Organised by FACTS Asia Center Incorporated, the Emerging Leaders Fellowship is a year-long programme designed to strengthen the next generation of policy thinkers through research mentorship, analytical training, and public engagement. The fellowship includes thematic workshops on regional and non-traditional security, policy writing, combating disinformation, and public communication, led by experts from leading institutions.
Matt joins thirteen other fellows from across Southeast Asia, including academics, analysts, and practitioners, who share a commitment to fostering informed and inclusive policy discussions in the region. As part of the fellowship, Matt will present and publish his research on environmental justice, digital democracy, and the human rights of marginalised communities, areas that reflect JALAN Civic Lab’s focus on civic, climate, digital, and data democracy.
Through his participation, Matt aims to highlight how civic empowerment, participatory governance, and intersectional justice can inform regional policy solutions. His involvement reaffirms JALAN Civic Lab’s mission to bridge academic insight and civic action, building democratic futures grounded in knowledge, collaboration, and regional solidarity.
The FACTS Asia Emerging Leaders Fellowship represents another milestone in Matt’s journey as a policy educator and civic innovator. It reflects both his personal commitment and JALAN Civic Lab’s continuing role in advancing youth leadership, cross-border dialogue, and evidence-based policymaking across Southeast Asia.
